About Me
Introduction
Ashley Etchell is married with a handful of children who are in themselves, a handful, yet still finds time to fart around with computers and fish. He possesses enormous (borderline sick) humour which juxtaposes his obsessive love of all things Ichthyological. He lives with one woman, three small people, two dogs, six savage fish and one crayfish. On the wrong side of 30, he is probably, well and truly, not down with the kidz!
At heart he’s nothing but a big kid and enjoys all of the following;
Fish, Music (Tool, A Perfect Circle, Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, Stone Temple Pilots, ShineDown, Seether…..) The Sopranos (not the singers, the criminals!) Battlestar Galactica, Lord of the Rings,The Mighty Boosh, Fish, Online Gaming, good intelligent cinema and Fish.
He also dislikes many things, a few of which are:
His kids when they whine, alcohol, cruelty to animals, slackers, jeans with creases. that woman on Location, Location, Location (take the god damned plum out of your mouth woman), Dell customer services, Junk mail, taxes, the government, his tortured childhood due to Dyslexia (is that spelt right?), Ipods (because they didn’t invent the MP3 player!), txt spk, n3rd 534k, road tax, chick flix, My My My by Armand Van Helden. This list could go on and on and on and on…….
Ashley’s pride and joy is his 10″ Polypterus Ornatipinnis, a prehistoric air breathing fish from central Africa.
Monkey See, Monkey Do
During the last six to eight years (its been a bit blurry) Ashley (Ash is preferred, Ashley is the ’sunday’ or ‘in trouble’ name) has picked up a weird selection of skills, in random order, these main skills are:
PHP (OOP), MySQL, HTML, XHTML, CSS, Dreamweaver, Fireworks, Linux/Unix, Distiller, Print design, Illustrator, web design, usability, CMS, osCommerce, CubeCart.
Ashley has also dabbled in Flash, XML, SOAP, PERL and ASP.
Previous Convictions
Ashley keeps out of trouble in the day by working for Mtracking, managing a web analytics suite. He’s also been responsible for developing ecommerce stores for well known brands such as Ben & Jerry’s, Aberlour and Fairline Boats and has been helping out developing a CMS package with Mpublish. He’s also worked for companies like ebuyer where he created an orange and gray bandwidth saving monster that spawned hundreds of copies (for which he goes totally uncredited) and Plusnet, where he cut his teeth on the whole internet thingy.
